Coalition to Protect Workers from Extreme Temperatures Statement on Committee Vote to Postpone Indefinitely House Bill 25-1286

Denver, CO – Today (Thursday, March 27, 2025) the Coalition to Protect Workers from Extreme Temperatures released the following statement about the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee vote to postpone indefinitely HB25-1286: Protecting Workers from Extreme Temperatures:
“It is deeply disappointing that the Protecting Workers from Extreme Temperatures bill will not become law this session. However, we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Colorado’s workforce. We are grateful to our bill sponsors, the 26-plus organizations in our coalition, and the thousands of workers whose labor is the backbone of our state’s economic success. From construction workers to teachers, climate resilience and economic stability are inseparable from their dedication and perseverance.
“This year’s efforts laid critical groundwork. We secured commitments from legislative leaders, drafted first-in-the-nation safety standards, and documented real cases of worker harm. In the coming year, we will refine the bill, engage employers in the conversation, and expand research on the health and economic impacts of extreme temperatures on workers.
“The Coalition to Protect Workers from Extreme Temperatures will not stop fighting for stronger protections that safeguard the health, safety, and dignity of workers across Colorado.”
